Good medical website optimization requires a close look at the landing page. The landing page is generally the first page a visitor sees when they click a link that brings them to your website. Since we’re discussing website optimization, we’ll be taking a look at reference optimization and some of the website optimization tips that can help visitors stay on these pages.

While transactional landing pages seek to get a visitor to perform a transaction (i.e. purchase a product or fill out a form), reference landing pages provide visitors with information. As a medical website, you will often find that quality reference landing pages can help build trust with potential patients. If done correctly, this type of landing page optimization can bring plenty of visitors to your website. From here, all you have to do is convince them that you’re the doctor they need.

Tips for Creating the Landing Page
The landing page is often the first introduction a visitor gets to your site. Effective landing pages follow some of these best practices:

  1. Keep it simple. Give the visitor the information they’re looking for and make it easy for them to read it (use bullet points and short paragraphs).
  2. Tell them where they are. If the visitor finds the information they need, they should be aware of who provided it to them. Make sure that your medical practice is listed on the landing page prominently.
  3. Offer calls to action. If a visitor is looking for specific information, you should also let them know what to do next. Provide them with contact information, an electronic scheduler, or links to consultations. Make sure they’re able to do something.
